Drum Circle

mmhm.png

A Drum Circle is a curated community event designed to draw community members to gather and bring their individual sounds into a shared musical space. Participants empower each other in the act of celebrating community and life through rhythm and music. People of all levels of musical expertise are welcome. Drum therapy encourages people to release inner trauma through physical movement and meditative rhythms, as well as bringing people together. It is for all ages and abilities – no musical experience is needed!

The story behind SCCT's drum circle

In February of 2019, we lost two individuals who were very dear to us, Shemar Brooks and Zenaisha...

When our collective ships righted themselves, we thought it would be a great way to celebrate their lives by sponsoring drum circles for peace.  They were both such incredible people who were very comfortable in their differences - authentically human.  Since that first drum circle and learning how beneficial drum circles are to the individual and the community, we have worked to have drum circles every month.  We invite everyone, no matter their musical abilities to join us in celebrating the lives of these two young people but also to connect with people who are different from you and maybe doing something that you have never done before.
Day, time, place:  2nd Sunday of the month, 2 p.m., @ 411 Holt Avenue, Macon, GA 31204
